Reduce friction

Wear loose clothing; wash skin gently with soap and water, and pat dry; wash hair gently with usual shampoo if in the treatment field but do not use a hairdryer; avoid shaving and hair removal

Reduce irritation

Answer 2

Use a moisturiser that does not contain SLS (sodium laureate sulphate); continue to use normal deodorant unless irritation occurs but stop if the skin is broken; avoid sun exposure and use a high SPF sun cream

For broken skin

Answer 3

Staff should use appropriate non-adhesive, non or low paraffin/petroleum-based dressings to prevent infection; do not use gentian violet (an antiseptic)
