Scarlet fever’s most notable symptom?
Strawberry tongue
First the tongue has a white coating with red spots which goes away after 4 days ish leaving the tongue bright red with red spots
Face also may look red with paleness around the mouth
Rashes in tummy small red pinprick with a rough texture which goes white if you press which will peel up to 6wks
Skin condition where there loads of tiny, itchy red bumps on the skin, also called prickly heat rash?
Miliaria rubra (pustulosa) ちっちゃい赤いきもいぶつぶつがいっぱい
Management of miliaria rubra?
Self limited in few days but can use calamine or hydrocortisone to relieve itching and irritation
What’s the skin condition where there’s red small dots sparse with a dimple in the centre?
Molluscum contagiosm
Located on face, torso and limbs of children
Located on the genitals, abdomesn and inner thighs of adults
Management of molluscum contagiosm?
Self limiting over a period of months to years
But lesions can be removed by scraping or freezing
Topical meds used to remove warts can be used so Topical salucylic acid bazuka but not licensed so not OTC
Noticible symptoms of slapped cheek syndrome (fifth disease) ?
Red rash on cheeks
Also rash on arms, spread to torso down to thighs
Management of slapped cheek syndrome?
Self limited so self help
Skin condition where blisters or ulcers in mouth and develop spots of blisters on hands, soles of the feet, buttocks, knees or elbows
Usually not itchy
Hand foot and mouth disease
Coxsackie
Management of hand foot and mouth disease?
Self limited after 10daysish
Signs of measles?
A red blotchy rash that isn’t itchy spreads from face and behind ears, before spreading to rest of body which last about a week before fading
Management of measles?
Self limiting though very unpleasant
What’s the skin condition where pink itchy rash starts from behind the ears then spreads to face, neck and upper part of the body?
Rubella
Also swollen glands
Management of rubella?
Self limiting
What is Lyme disease?
A bacterial infection that can spread to humans by infected ticks
Usually easier to treat if its diagnosed early
Symptoms of Lyme disease?
Circular red skin rash around a tick bite
Can appear up to 3 months after being bitten and usually lasts for several weeks
Most Rashes appear within the first 4wks
Flu like symptoms
