Skin infections are often a “cellulitis”(Cellulitis is the inflammation of subcutaneous tissue).
Often caused by Staphylococcus and Streptococcus
MRSA (methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus)
Necrotizing Fasciitis-fast moving and deadly skin infection
Scabies
Contracted through contact
Parasite that lives on skin
Causes Itchy, linear burrows on the hands and wrists.
Psoriasis
Skin condition.
Rapid proliferation of skin cells.
Often associated with psoriatic arthritis
Keratinocytes undergo rapid proliferation
Can be associated with psoriatic arthritis
Tinea Fungi
Circular
Erythematous (skin red from increased bloodflow)
Itchy Rash
Toes/Feet
Human Papillomavirus
Genital Warts
Can Lead to Cervical Cancer
Pediculosis

Feed on Blood
Birthmarks
Mongolian Spot-Flat, Bluish-Gray Patch usually on lower back
Port Wine Stain

You will see erythema and spiderlike blood vessels
Albinism
Results in lighter skin tones, eye color, and hair color

4th Degree-often see tendons, muscles, bone
Pressure Injury 1
Pressure Ulcers (Bedsores):
Pressure causes reduced blood flow and injury.
Turn patients frequently to prevent.
Avoid prolonged pressure on bony areas.
