- A countries urbanisation increases as a result of an increase in the economic development of the country,
- The graph in figure 1 exhibits that the higher the GDP per capita the higher the percentage population living in urban areas.
- This is because a more economically developed city has more money that can be utilised in facilities and infrastructure that will attract a larger amount of people into the city as well as providing better healthcare which will result in a higher population due to less death.

- in the future urbanisation will rapidly increase resulting in a rise of urban sprawl meaning that larger amounts of people will be forced to occupy shanty towns on the rural urban fringe
- there me changes that make the estimates unreliable due to corrupt governments or wars

-Urbanisation can trigger a decline in rural communities as it creates income and opportunity disparities between urban and rural areas due to a lack of investment into facilities and infrastructure.
