Tell us about a time when you overcame a challenge.
C - During week at White & Case - presentation task given late on top of existing workload.
A - Decided to schedule time during lunch with my partner to delegate tasks to complete. Also, went back to my desk and scheduled time to work on it during work day and communicated this to my supervisor. I also dedicated two hours each evening to work on it.
R - As a result, we finished on time and to high standard. The feedback we received was positive, focusing on the breadth of research we had done and detail we went into.
R - Experience taught me how valuable communication, effective teamwork and organisational skills was in the work place to ensure work is delivered on time and to a high standard.
What is your greatest achievement?
C - Greatest achievement is securing third place in BIUCAC. This achievement stands out to me, given my background. As a first generation uni attendee from a low-income household, I had little exposure to the corporate world. Consequently, I possessed limited knowledge of business affairs compared to my peers.
A - However, I was determined to bridge this gap. I embarked on a proactive path of self-improvement by actively seeking opportunities to engage with the complexities of the business world. First year, second year and then final year.
R - As a result of this, and through great and determination, I became more commercially aware and developed a keen interest in commercial law.
R - participating in BIUCAC allowed me to apply this newfound business acumen and showcase my aptitude for navigating complex business scenarios in five challenging rounds. More importantly my success in the competition represents a significant milestone in my professional journey and exemplifies how perseverance can overcome obstacles - I intend to apply this same attitude to my career with Jones Day.
