Interactional speech
Interacting, speaking to form bonds with the purpose of sociability.
Speech acts
There are five:
Representatives Directives Commissives Expressives Declaratives
Phatic speech
Speech that we use to bond with people e.g lovely day! Or ‘looks like rain’
Transactional speech
Speech with the purpose of finding out or giving information e.g explaining how to get the bus to London
Reciprocity
The idea that speaking is a two-way interaction i.e a listener and a speaker
Process writing
Basically, staging. You take the learners from word level, to sentence level, to paragraphing and then to adding linker, or adjectives for example. Models are provided for the learner at each stage.
Product writing
Working from a model, analysing it for its language and content and then reproducing.
Genre writing
Analysis the genre, its styles and conventions, then mimicking it.
Schematic knowledge (schema)
The learners knowledge of the world, which can be applied in the classroom.
