Skill 3-1: Removing Gloves
1- Use dominant gloved hand, grasp exterior of opposite glove at wrist without contaminating skin.
2- Place ungloved fingers inside cuff of other glove, making sure not to touch exterior of glove.
Skill 5-2: Bridge/BEAN lift
1-Standard precautions
2-Lifters on either side of pt forming a bridge, shoulder to shoulder, arms under pt
3-Execute lift, rescuer slide board into place from pt’s feet, lower pt.
Skill 5-1: Multiple Person Direction Ground Lift
1-Standard precautions
2-If suspected spine injury, do not use
3-Rescuers on same side, arms under patient
4-Execute lift up while rolling patient towards rescuers’ chest, lifting and lowering in unison
Skill 7- : Patient Assessment
1-Determine if scene is safe
2-Initiate standard precautions
3-Determine MOI/NOI
4-Assess ABCDE
5-Provide airway/breathing intervetions if needed
6-Control major bleeding if needed
7-Detailed head-to-toe assessment DCAP-BTLS
8-Obtain SAMPLE
9-Obtain baseline vitals
10-Maintain spinal immobilzation if needed
Skill 9-1: Suctioning Airway
1-Standard precautions
2-Pre-oxygenate patient and assemble suction device
3-Open mouth and insert catheter only as far as you can see
4-Suction side to side or circular motion as you widthraq
5-Suction no more than 15 seconds
Skill 9-2: Inserting NPA (Nasopharyngeal Airway)
1-Standard precautions
2-Size from nostril to lower earlobe, lubricate
3-Insert in to larger nostril. Right side insert bevel towards septum. Left side insert bevel up until resistance, rotate 180 degrees and continue
4-If obstructed, use other side
Skill 9-3: Inserting OPA (Oropharyngeal Airway)
1-Standard precautions
2-Size from corner of mouth to earlobe
3-Open pt’s mouth, hold airway upsidedown and insert with tip facing roof of mouth, slide half way in
4-Rotate 180 degrees, insert until flange rests on pt’s lips
Skill 9-4: O2 Tank Setup and Breakdown
1-Inspect all gear of damage or missing O rings
2-Crack the cylinder for 1 second to clear debris
3-Attach regulator, open O2 bottle, check pressure
4-Set regulator to proper flow for delivery device (max 15 for NRB, max 6 for nasal)
5-Secure bottle from falling/sliding
6-Close regulator, bottle, release pressure, remove
