Place edge of coverslip or spreader slide in front of the blood slide, and place it at a 30 to 35 degree angle

Drag the spreader back until it reaches the blood, let the blood spread to the edges of the spreader, and push the blood to the opposite end of the slide
Step 13: After smearing…
Dispose of the coverslip or spreader in the sharps container
Step 14 and 15: After disposing of spreader…
Allow slide to air dry, and let the judge look at it
Step 16: After the judge looks at the smear…
Label the slide with patient’s name, doctor’s name, and ID number

Clean and replace all equipment

Use disinfectant to wipe counter and area
