What is rectified photography?
Large format highly detailed-scalable photographs such as building façades
Picture of a front of the building looking at it as an elevation
What is orthophotograhy?
Digital aerial photograph that has been corrected to remove distortion inherent in the imagery.
used for aerial view of a site
What is photogrammetry?
Coordinate measuring technique from photographs -mostly for showing large areas or to create a model of a structure or object
Used in mapping. Almost like stitichng all the pictures
What is stereo photogrammetry?
Produces an accurate 3D drawing from photographs created by overlapping photographs
Used for 3D reconstruction. I think of this as inside of building
What is convergent photogrammetry?
These are photographs taken from different angles
I think of this as for outside of a building
What is an electronic distance measurement (EDM)?
Method of determining the length between two points using electromagnetic waves
Used in surveying and engineering industry
What is a What is an reflectorless electronic distance measurement (REDM)?
Relies on the return signal bounced from the object being measured
Accuracy is 1/8” for 100 feet
What is laser scanning?
Sweeps over an object or space to obtain a 3D coordinates of points on the suface
