sinus chapman points Flashcards
chapmans points
-myofascial nodes that reflect visceral dysfunction and are mediated by the sympathetic arm of the ANS
Anterior chapmans points
- typically used for diagnosis
- smooth, firm, discretely palpable noodles, approximately 2-3 mm in diameter located within the deep fascia or not eh periosteum of the bone
Posterior chapmans points
- typically used for treatment
- located between the spinous and transverse processes of the vertebrae and have been described as rubbery, similar to tissue texture changes associated with the classic viscera-somatic reflex
Chapman’s points treatment
-firm pressure with gentle rotary motion is induced over each point, using the finger pad, for a period of approximately 15 seconds to 2 minutes until the tension is dissolved and pain at the point is decreased
