Single Engine Practice Procedures Flashcards
Single Engine Failure EP
1) Nr - maintain
2) Airspeed/altitude - control
3) Wheels/floats - as required
4) Land back or continue flight
Land back:
5) Assume landing attitude, eliminate yaw and drift prior to touchdown
Continued flight:
6) Collective - adjust to maximum power, maintaining minimum Nr (at or above 345 rpm)
7) Airspeed - climb at 70-75 kias
8) Nr/OEI - set as necessary
9) Analyze
(Warning: do not allow rotor rpm to decrease below 300)
Continued Flight Procedure
1) SP) select IDLE 1 or IDLE 2 position with training switch
2) PAC) Nr - maintain above 345 rpm (low Nr horn extinguished)
3) PAC) airspeed/altitude - control
4) PAC) collective - adjust to maximum power while maintaining Nr
5) PAC) airspeed - climb 70-75 kias, cruise 70-110 kias
6) PAC) OEI rating stop - observe limits associated with ratings, adjust power to CT as soon as practicable
Landback Procedure
1) SP) Select IDLE 1 or IDLE 2 position with training switch
2) PAC) Nr - maintain above 345 rpm
3) PAC) airspeed/altitude - control, adjust attitude to obtain required groundspeed for touchdown
4) PAC) wheels/floats - wheels down
5) PAC) assume landing attitude, eliminating yaw and drift prior to touchdown
Practice Single Engine Landing
1) SP) Landing/Hover checklist - complete
2) PAC) OEI rating stop - ensure HI selected
3) PAC) adjust pattern to arrive at transition point
4) PAC) maintain ETL until landing is assured
5) PAC) assume landing attitude, eliminating yaw and drift prior to touchdown
From a Low Hover
1) SP) Nr switch - HI
2) PAC) establish stable hover
3) SP) select IDLE 1 or IDLE 2 with training switch
4) PAC) adjust collective as required
5) PAC) assume landing attitude, eliminating yaw and drift
6) PAC) cushion the landing with collective
7) PAC) smoothly reduce collective to the down position with the cyclic centered
8) SP) select FLIGHT position with the training switch
