a.Physical Communication :
: Transmission of signals over a distance for
the purpose of communication.
1. Radio – Communication used in wireless transmission
of signals through free space by electromagnetic radiation of a
frequency significantly below that of visible light, in the radio
frequency range.
2. Wire – Communication uses field wire, cable
assemblies, battery operated telephone, switchboard, typewriter
and associated equipment.
3. Sound – Communication uses sound signal
transmission by whistles, bugles, horns, gongs, weapon and other
noise making devices. They are used chiefly to attract attention,

described as the conveyance of ideas and information in forms that
can be read or looked upon. It expressed in signs, drawing, graphic
design, color and electronic resources.
b. Telecommunication
- Radio facilities can be used more quickly than wire
communication. - Radio mounted in a vehicle, radio equipment ready to
used and does not require installation.
3.Radio is mobile, it can be used aerial, amphibious
vehicle and dismounted unit. - Communicate for a distance.
- Radio has different mode of operation such voice
radio telephony, telegraph, teletype transmission.
a.Radio Capabilities.
1.Radio is subject to equipment breakdown.
2.Radio is subject to interference.
3.Radio is the least secured means of communication.
b. Radio Limitations.
1.It is necessary to maintain radio silence during moving
or operating.
2.Avoid necessary transmission.
3.Transmit only when necessary or emergency.
c. Tactical Applications.
- Any combination of characters or pronounceable
words which identify communication facilities or unit.
- Call Sign
- A call sign which identifies as single
communication facility or unit.
- Individual Call Sign
- A call sign which identifies all station in a
particular net.
- Net Call Sign
- Method of establishing communication with the station
desire to contact the call sign of the station he wants to communicate as
well as his own identity
- Call
- Method of establishing communication whereby
the calling station transmits the individual call sign of called station.
- Single Call
- Method of establishing communication whereby
the calling station transmit a series of call sign.
- Multiple Call
- A radio net consist of several station working
together on the same frequency, same modulation and same emission.
- Radio Net
- Are pronounceable words
assigned specific
meaning used to facilitate traffic handling and radio telephone
circuit.
- Proword
- To identify individual hours of the alphabet in a message.
- To spell out difficult or foreign words within a plain text
message. - To transmit each character in encrypted groups, this will be
done even if occasional groups in the encrypted text are
