Hypothermia- mild moderate severe

Shivering
Mild cyanosis
Treat: Warm up, warm drink
Moderate:
SS:
Stop shivering
Twitching or jerking
Shallow breathing

No shivering
Decreased loc
Confusion- altered ms
Shallow breathing/pulse
For all:
Remove wet clothing. If no dry clothing put wrung out clothing back on. Check pulse for full minute if hypothermic.
Frostbite. Superficial and deep

Treat: cover with warm body part Eg hand or put in lukewarm water

Dark colour
Blisters
Treat: rewarm slowly in lukewarm water if in safe warm environment. Area will swell and blister as heated. Will be very painful. Ems
Heat exhaustion and stroke
Exhaustion
SS:
Sweating
Flushed
Vomitting (call ems)
Weak rapid pulse
Blurred vision
Stroke:
Sweating stops
Body temp rises quickly
Hot to touch
Red
Vomit
Decrease loc
Treat: lower body temp fast. cool water is best. Cold packs. Careful not to overdo and make hypothermic
Sucking chest wound/ pneumothorax
SS:
sucking sound on breath
Unequal breath sounds
Trauma esp puncture to chest
Treat: place one hand over wound. Nothing else
Head/ c spine
injuries
SS: raccoon eyes
Battle signs
Dizzy
Blurred vision
Decreased ms
Increased pressure in head of internal bleed
Unequal pupils- can be sign of stroke
Seizures
Vomitting
Treat: stabilize c spine
Ems
Concussion
Vomit
Confusion
Irritability
Loc
Retrograde or prograde ammesia
Overdose
Ss: pinpoint pupil
Unconcious
Drowsiness
Cyanosis
Slow or absent breathing
Treat:
SAVE ME
Stimulate
Airway
Ventilate
Evaluate
Medicate
Evaluate
Ensure breaths going in, then administer naloxone . This will make sure issue isn’t airway.
