Normal HR? Name for too high and low?
Normal: 60-100
Tachycardia: 100+
Bradycardia: 60-
Normal breath rate
12-20 per minute
High normal low BP
Normotension: normal range
Hypotension: 100/60 or below
Hypertension: 140/90 or above
Hypertensive crisis: 180/110 or above
Pulse pressure?
The pressure between systolic and diastolic- how much pressure during the pulse.
Normal is 40-60mmHg
What is pale cool clammy skin an indicator of?
Shock
What is cyanosis? What is it an indicator of?
Blue skin. Indicator of lack of oxygen or blood flow.
Red skin (flushed) indicator of?
Fever or late signs of carbon monoxide poisoning, burns, or heat illness
For patients with darker skin pigmentation, how should skin condition be checked?
Membranes of the mouth (inside lip), palms, or conjunctiva of eye
Small constricted pupils indicate?
Bright lights or narcotics/drugs
Large dilated pupils indicate?
Dark lighting, lack of oxygen, stimulant drugs
Unequal pupils indicate?
Stoke/tia or brain injury (concussion possibly)
A patient laying on their back is in what position?
Supine
A person laying on their front is in what position?
Prone
