Definition: Feelings, thoughts, and memories which we are UNAWARE -Ideas and experiences exert and influence on individual’s behavior -majority of human behavior derives from this -allowed Freud to explain many disorders -Experiences/ideas that create distress in an individual are pushed out of consciousness into the unconscious and causing psychological or physical dysfunction.
