Conscious
Definition: Mental activities of which we are FULLY AWARE
Preconscious
Definition: feelings, thoughts, and ideas of which we are UNAWARE but can bring to awareness relatively easily.
Unconscious
Definition: Feelings, thoughts, and memories which we are UNAWARE -Ideas and experiences exert and influence on individual’s behavior -majority of human behavior derives from this -allowed Freud to explain many disorders -Experiences/ideas that create distress in an individual are pushed out of consciousness into the unconscious and causing psychological or physical dysfunction. TREATMENT: bring experiences and thoughts into the conscious and talk to through the problem. METHODS: Free Association & dream interpretation.
