Omote take ori
Outside breaking bamboo - tori grabs back of uke’s hand. Steps outside grab and lowers weight. Tori lifts hand, folds fingers towards uke’s armpit and steps onto uke’s toe to prevent escape.
Ura take ori.
Inside breaking bamboo - tori cross grabs uke’s fingers drops weight and steps forward while pushing fingers back towards Uke’s elbow. Straight arm bar is on Uke’s arm by pushing elbow with other hand.
Omote Gyaku
Outside twist - from kihon Happo.
Ura Gyaku
Inside twist - from kihon Happo.
Hon Gyaku
True twist - from Uke’s hand on lapel tori guards hand, reaches over and twists Uke’s wrist to vertical. With both hands, tori supports Uke’s wrist on their chest and leans forward.
Omote Oni kudaki
Outside demon crush - uke grabs tori’s sleeve, tori steps back on same side was grabbed, raises grabbed arm to inside of uke’s arm, steps back in with same foot and brings other arm behind Uke’s arm and clasps hand. Step back with same foot whilst raising Uke’s elbow to put on lock.
Ura Oni kudaki
Inside demon crush - as in omote oni kudaki but instead of free arm doing behind Uke’s arm, tori places free hand inside Uke’s elbow to lift it and apply lock.
Musha dori
Warrior capture - from kihon Happo.
Muso dori
No intention capture - from kihon Happo.
O gyaku
Big twist - tori grabs Uke’s wrist with one hand and the same side shoulder with the other. Tori steps outside and pulls down shoulder and raises wrist. Tori maintains grip for use as a restraint or walks through uke to throw.
Rokushaku bo
Six-foot staff.
Hira ichimonji no Kamae
Flat straight line - Stand in Hira ichimonji with the bo held horizontally in front of you.
Ichimonji no Kamae
Straight line - as for Hira ichimonji no Kamae but with head and front foot pointing towards uke.
Jodan no Kamae
High level - from ichimonji raise bo so that back hand is above your head. Bo is angled to the ground.
Ihen no Kamae
Changing - To the side of the body, rear hand at ear level, front hand at waist level. Angle the bo across the body.
Chudan no Kamae
Mid level - Bo is held under armpit and bo is horizontal towards uke.
Seigan no Kamae
Correct eyes - From chudan, drop rear hand to waist level and angle the front end to Uke’s eyes.
Gedan no Kamae
Low level - from segan front hand is on the front end of the bo, with 2/3 of it behind rear hand. Rear end of bo is at ground level.
Heito no Kamae
From gedan, move the bo back behind the body.
Tenchijin no Kamae
Heaven-earth-man - feet are closer together, bo is held to the right side vertically. Right palm held flat against Bō at head height and left hand at waist level.

As for seigan but with sword pointing at stomach of uke.

As for segan, but with sword pointing at feet of uke.
Ichi no Kamae
Seigan with arms extended at shoulder level sword straight.
Daijodan no Kamae
Left leg forward, sword raised above head, this is attacking position for a vertical cut down.
To-Sui no Kamae
Left leg forward, weight on front leg, head forward as a false target. Sword held low, blade edge may be up. “Clear water cut”
Hasso no Kamae
Feet together, sword held at side with tsuba at level of ear. On right hand side blade is facing uke, on left, away from uke.
Kasumi no Kamae
Seigan with arms crossed and sword held horizontally in front of face.
Totoku hyoshi no Kamae
Tori kneels on the left knee (toes up) the right knee faces uke. The sword is held in the right hand and is vertical (left hand can hold the saya) sword is held in front if face to protect it.
