What is SIADH (syndrome of inappropriate anti-diuretic hormone)?
A
Excessive release of ADH, causing body to retain fluid

sodium becomes diluted causing confusion, seizures, coma, death

What are the signs and symptoms of SIADH?
A
Hyponatremia
Dyspnea d/t pulmonary edema
Increased osmolality in urine
Decreased osmolality in blood
Bounding pulses
Crackles
HTN

What is the treatment for SIADH?
A
Vasopressin antagonist (tolvaptan, conivaptan)
Loop diuretic (furosemide)
Hypertonic sodium chloride
