why are SI ratios done?
A
evaluates sacroiliitis
- done because SI joints are normally “hot” on scans, so this is a way we can evaluate whether or not it is actually ab/normal

inflammation of SI joints; presents with lower back pain

what can cause sacroiliitis?
A
trauma, arthritis, pregnancy and infection (rare)

what can cause error in SI ratios?
A
if there is any pathology in the sacrum as it will falsely lower the ratio due to sacrum being hotter
