Painful Arc
full abduction of shoulder
Instability Load and Shift
Grasp head of the humerus with one hand and acromion with the other, try slide the head of the humerus andterior and posterior
Instability Anterior Apprehension Test
Client lies supine, arm abducted to 90 and externally rotated
Instability Relocation
If apprehension is seen during ext. rot’, stabilize humerus (push down) and try again
Instability Surprise Test
remove your stabilizing hand
Instability Sulcus Test
Traction the arm inferiorly
Instability Posterior Apprehension Test
Horizontally adduct the arm while applying posterior pressure through the humerus
Anterior Impingement Hawkin’s-Kennedy test
abduct, horizontally adduct, and internally rotate arm (hand in front of body, pushed down with elbow bent)
Anterior Impingement Neer’s Test
Internally rotate arm (palm out), arm is passively elevated in front of body with slight adduction - humerus ends up pushing forehead
Posterior Impingement test
Abduct arm and externally rotate it as fas as it can(elbow bent, wrist pushed back)
