Shoulder And Elbow Problems Flashcards
What are the common pathological conditions affecting the shoulder?
Fractures: high energy or pathological/osteoporotic. TM depends on location and severity.
Dislocation (instability): 90% anterior, 9% posterior, 1% inferior. TM includes manipulation, immobilisation, physio, surgery
Rotator cuff tear: traumatic or degenerative. TM acute is early surgery, chronic surgery if symptomatic.
Capsulitis (frozen shoulder): primary or secondary. Early TM is hydrodilatation, late TM is surgery
Impingement: reduction in subacromial space resulting in pain. TM is subacromial steroid injection, physiotherapy, decompression
