Shoulder Flashcards
Origin of pec major
medial clavicle
sternum
cartilage of ribs 1 - 6
insertion of pec major
crest of greater tubercle of humerus
action of pec major
all fibers
- adduct and IR shoulder
- assist to elevate thoracic during forced inhalation
upper fibers
- flex and horizontally adduct the shoulder
lower fibers - extend the shoulder
innervation of pec major
upper fibers
- lateral pec nerve C5, 6, 7
lower fibers
- lateral and medial pectoral nerve C6, 7, 8, T1 (C6 - T1)
origin of pec minor
ribs 3 - 5
insertion of pec minor
medial surface of coracoid process of the scap
action of pec minor
depress, adduct and downwardly rotate scap
with scap fixed - assist to elevate thorax during forced inhalation
innervation of pec minor
medial pectoral nerve
lateral pectoral nerve
C6, 7, 8 T1 (C6 - T1)
origin of subclavius
1st rib and cartilage
insertion of subclavius
inferior surface of clavicle
action of subclavius
- depress the clavicle and draw it anteriorly
- elevate the first rib
- stabilizes the sternoclavicular joint
innervation of subclavius
subclavian nerve C5, 6
origin of serratus anterior
external surfaces of ribs 1 - 9
insertion of serratus anterior
anterior surface of medial border of the scapula
action of serratus anterior
with origin fixed
- abduct, upwardly rotate and depress the scapula
- hold medial border of the scapula against rib cage
with scap fixed - act to elevate thorax during forced inhalation
innervation of serratus anterior
long thoracic nerve C5, 6, 7, 8
