Shoulder Flashcards
Distal attachment Deltoid
Deltoid tuberosity on lateral aspect of shaft of humerus
Proximal attachment Deltoid
Anterior fibres- anterior border and superior surface of lateral third of clavicle
Middle fibres- four tendinous slips which are attached to the superior surface and lateral margin of the acromion process
Posterior fibres- inferior lip of crest of spine of scapula as far back as the triangular area at its medial end
Nerve Supply Deltoid
Axillary Nerve C5,C6
Proximal attachment Pectoralis Major
Clavicular attachment- medial half of the anterior surface of the clavicle
Sternocostal attachment- half of the anterior surface of the upper six costal cartilages and the anterior part of the sixth rib and also from a fibrous aponeurosis of the External Abdominal Oblique muscle
Half of anterior surface of manubrium and body of sternum
Distal attachment Pectoralis Major
Lateral lip of intertubercular sulcus of humerus
Nerve supply Pectoralis Major
Medial (C8, T1) and Lateral (C5, C6, C7) Pectoral Nerves.
Clavicular part by roots C5, C6
Sternocostal part by roots C7, C8, T1
Proximal attachment Biceps Brachii
Short head- apex of coracoid process of scapula, lateral to Coracobrachialis
Long head- supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula and the adjoining part of the glenoid labrum within the capsule of the shoulder joint
Distal attachment Biceps Brachii
Posterior aspect of radial tuberosity
From its medial border it gives off a broad aponeurosis- the bicipital aponeurosis, which attaches to the deep fascia of the forearm and the posterior border of the proximal ulna
Nerve supply Biceps Brachii
Musculocutaneous Nerve C5,C6
Proximal attachment Coracobrachialis
Apex of coracoid process of scapula
Distal attachment Coracobrachialis
Medial aspect of shaft of humerus at about its midpoint, between Brachialis and Biceps Brachii
Nerve supply Coracobrachialis
Musculocutaneous Nerve C5, C6, C7
Proximal attachment Brachialis
Distal two thirds of the anterior aspect of the shaft of the humerus, extending outwards onto the medial and lateral intermuscular septum
Distal attachment Brachialis
Brachialis impression on the inferior aspect of the coronoid process and the tuberosity of the ulna. Some deep fibres blend into the capsule of the elbow joint
Nerve supply Brachialis
Musculocutaneous Nerve C5, C6
A branch from the Radial Nerve C6, C7
