Elbow Flashcards
Distal attachment of Triceps Brachii
Posterior aspect of proximal aspect of olecranon of the ulna and deep fascia of the forearm.
A few fibres from the medial head, the articularis cubiti, attach to the posterior part of the capsule of the elbow joint
Proximal attachment of Triceps Brachii
Long head- infraglenoid tubercle and adjacent glenoid labrum of the scapula, blending at its upper part with the shoulder joint capsule
Lateral head- an area superolateral to the spiral groove on the posterior aspect of the shaft of the humerus between the attachments of Deltoid and Teres Minor
Medial head- posterior surface of the humerus, inferomedial to the spiral groove as far distally as the olecranon fossa
Nerve supply Triceps Brachii
Radial Nerve C6,C7, C8
Lateral head C6,C7
Medial and Long heads C7,C8
Proximal attachment Brachioradialis
Upper two thirds of lateral supracondylar ridge of humerus and adjacent part of lateral intermuscular septum
Distal attachment Brachioradialis
Lateral surface of radius just proximal to styloid process
Nerve supply Brachioradialis
Radial Nerve C5, C6
Proximal attachment Supinator
Humeral head- lateral epicondyle of humerus by common extensor tendon and takes fibres from radial collateral ligament of elbow joint and annular ligament of superior tibiofibular joint
Ulnar head- supinator crest on ulna and supinator fossa of ulna
Distal attachment Supinator
Posterior, lateral and anterior aspects of the radius, from the neck as far down as the attachment of Pronator Teres on mid shaft of the radius
Nerve supply Supinator
Posterior Interosseous Nerve C5, C6
