what are you assess with the shoulder inspection?
A
anterior and lateral aspects of the shoulder, shoulder girdle and upper limb
- scars, bruising, swelling, boney prominences, deltoid wasting
inspect the scapula and muscles posterior
- scars, trapezius, supraspinatus and infraspinatus asymmetry
scoliosis
winged scapula (have patient push up against a wall)?

what are you assessing in the shoulder palpation
A
first assess shoulder joint temperature using back of hands (inflammation or arthritis)
- SC joint
- clavicle
- AC joint
- acromion
- coracoid process
- spine of scapula
- greater tubercle of humerus
- biceps tendon
- Subacromial and subdeltoid bursae
- Supraspinatus is directly below the acromion,
- Infraspinatus is posterior to supraspinatus, Teres minor is posterior and inferior to supraspinatus
