Findings for blood pressure?
there may be hypotension in anemia
<90/60
findings for RR
they may be tachypnea in anemia due to poor O2 delivery
findings for HR
tachycardia and there may be large and bounding pulses in anemia due to poor O2 delivery
Findings for general skin exam
pallor of the
- face
- skin
- palms
- palmar crease
there may be icterus in hemolytic anemia
petechiae in aplastic anemia or IDA
purpura in aplastic anemia
bruising or sites of bleeding
findings for hair and nails
coarse dry hair (from less O2 supplying follicles), evidence of hair loss on head and legs
spoon nails, brittle nails, nail bed pallor
findings in nutritional status exam
pallor
- conjunctiva and rim
- nail beds
- palms
- oral mucosa and/or tongue
what finding could be present in hemolytic anemia but not IDA
jaundice
note pallor will occur with all anemias
