The capacity to endure difficulties until ones task is completed

Virtus (courage)
The capacity to bring about a desired result

Had to overcome hostility and ambush, have courage to keep going and complete aqueduct. Courage to admit mistakes when they occurred
Spes (hope) example
Hope that the aqueduct will function correctly after many years of work
