Expected Benefits (benefit-cost projection)

And the three criteria it must meet are:

  1. The problem is clearly described and quantified
  2. A practical strategy to address the problem is addressed
  3. Expected benefits are based on real case studies and are likely to exceed the costs

What do the “4-P’s” of marketing stand for? How are they used when constructing a marketing strategy?

The “4-P’s” of marketing are:
Product

Price

Placement

Promotion

Product explains what it is that you are providing, the time commitment and the personalized options and what they can get from your service. Price explains if the employer or the employee with be covering the cost, or a combination of both. Placement lets them know when and where it will happen. Promotion is important so that people know about the other three P’s. There are a variety of tools to use for promotion including posters, emails, luncheons, and weekly staff meetings.

What is liability and risk in regards to worksite health promotion programs? How can a WHPP professional minimize both liability and risk at the worksite? In your discussion, make sure to include considerations of employee health screenings and how they can be used to minimize risk and liability.

A

Anytime an employee participates in WHPPs or any other on-site activity, the worksite can be held liable for any injury/incident
Worksites should take precautionary measures to minimize risk
There are several ways to do this – and you should do as many as possible!
Options:
Position your program so that workers comp or private liability insurance covers program related or on the job injuries
Waivers and consent forms (a MUST!)
Develop a screening program that identifies high risk employees
BUT you cannot discriminate against individuals (remember ADA?)
Many worksites have ADA experts/consultants
Employee health screenings
Must comply with:
Screening techniques should be medically warranted and should only be conducted by authorized professionals
Employees should always be informed of the purpose of the screening
Post-screening follow up should occur – confidentially
Should not rely solely on physical health attributes
Nearly all employees have some level of measurable risk

Many times screenings are conducted to determine employee health status, fitness level & exercise capabilities

Many employees DO NOT attend these screenings
It is your decision to allow/disallow participation based on screenings, as long as it complies with ADA laws.

ALWAYS include statements about clearing with their personal physician before participation
