3.__________ - Tissues
- Alveoli
- Blood
Arteries and Veins
Arteries- thick walled, carries oxygenated blood away from heart
Veins- thin walled, carries deoxygenated blood towards the heart, uses valves to keep blood flowing
Bradycardia vs tachycardia
Bradycardia - when heart rate is at rest/during sub-maximal exercise (decreased)
Tachycardia - heart rate over 100 beats per min while at rest
External vs internal respiration
External- exchange of gases(external environment) occurs in lungs/alveoli
Internal- exchange of gases (internal environment)
occurs in tissues
Systolic vs Diastolic pressure
Systolic- the pressure in the arteries when the heart beats (maximum)
Diastolic- the pressure in the arteries between heart beats (minimum)
Explain the pathway of electrical conduction system of the heart
Begins with SA node atrial muscles contract goes to AV node then to bundle of HIS then bundle branches then purkinje fibers then ventricles contract
