SHOCK Flashcards
hypovolemic shock
reduced intravascular circulating volume from haemorrage/fluid shifts/systemic fluid loss
obstructive shock
impedence of circulatory flow from blockage, compression, embolic, dissecting/ tamponade
distributive shock
decreased vascular resistance, increased venous capacity, from vasomotor disfunction
septic shock
caused by toxins in the blood as result of disease/infection - can = lethal systemic vasodilation
anaphylactic shock
the exaggerated systemic response to allergen
neurogenic shock
caused by damage to sympathetic nervous system= reduced PVR secondary to widespread vasodilation
cardiogenic shock
inability of the heart to maintain a level of CO sufficient to perfuse tissues with oxygenated blood.
