Shock Flashcards
Hypovolemic Shock
There isnt enough blood to carry oxygen to the organs. Can be caused by severe blood loss 15%
there will be a decrease in venous return to the heart.
if bleeding hold firm on the site, colloid solutions
Distributive Shock
causes blood vessels to lose their tone. When loss of tone become floppy and open therefore not enough blood pressure supplied to the organs
Cardiogenic Shock
Damge to the heart can decrease the blood flow to the body. Can be caused by by damaged heart muscle, very slow heart rhythm.
Obstructive Shock
When the blood can go where it needs to go due to an obstruction. Conditions can cause a build up of air or fluid in the chest cavity can lead to this including collapsed lung, hemothorax and cardiac tamponade
cardiac tamponade
build up of fluid or blood around the sack of the heart causing compression on the heart muscle. Decreasing cardiac output
