What types of shock are there?

A

Vasogenic (dilation of blood vessels), Cardiogenic (malfunction of heart), and Hypovelmic (loss of bodily fluids)

What are S/S of compensatory shock?

A

Patient is anxious and restless, HR increase, RR increase, skin is pale cool clammy (opposite for vasogenic shock), dizziness with position changes, nausea

S/S of decompensatory shock

A

LOR extremely dispriented/unresponsive, HR increase, RR increase, BP falls (disappearing radial pulse), pupils slows to respond

How should we treat shock?

A

Treat cause of shock (different for the 3 kinds if shock), keep patient calm, hydrate patient if patient is able to drink safely
