Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) program—it exists so that the Army can prevent incidents of sexual harassment and sexual assault before they occur
What is Sexual Harassment?
A form of sex discrimination that involves unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature
What is Sexual Assault?

What is Quid Pro Quo?
Conditions placed on an individual’s career or terms of employment in return for favors
What are five (5) options that Soldiers can use when dealing/confronted with Sexual harassment at the company-level?
(1) Direct Approach: Confront the harasser and tell him or her that the behavior is inappropriate, violates Army values, is not welcomed, and must stop
(2) Indirect Approach: Send a letter to the harasser stating the facts, personal feelings about the inappropriate behavior, and expected resolution
(3) Third Party: Request assistance from another person—ask someone to talk to the harasser, accompany the victim, or intervene to resolve the conflict
(4) Chain of Command: Report the behavior to an immediate supervisor or others in the chain of command and ask for assistance in resolving the situation
(5) File an Informal or Formal Complaint: Complaint filing procedures are outlined in Appendix D, AR 600-20, para 7-7
What is an informal complain?
An informal complaint is any complaint that an individual does not wish to file in writing
What is a formal complaint?

Depending on the victim’s status, what three (3) choices does a victim of sexual assault have?
(1) Submit an unrestricted report
(2) Submit a restricted report
(3) Not to report the incident
What is an Unrestricted Report?
A process that an individual covered by this policy uses to disclose, without requesting confidentiality or Restricted Reporting, that he or she is the victim of a sexual assault.
What is a Restricted Report?
A reporting option that allows military sexual assault victims to confidentially disclose the assault to a SARC, VA, or HCP
