SH Chapter 10 - Flight Instruments & Displays Flashcards
1) What do the large red arrowheads on the PFD indicate?
Direction to move the nose to reduce pitch (occurs beyond 30 degrees nose up or down)
2) What are the pitch and roll protection limits indicated by the green = signs?
30 degrees NU, 15 degrees ND, and 67 degrees roll
3) When would the sideslip index change from yellow to blue?
Engine failure at take off or go around
4) What does the yellow speed trend pointer on the airspeed display indicate?
Where this speed will be in 10 seconds if acceleration remains constant
5) What is the difference between the magenta and blue target airspeeds?
Magenta is managed and blue is selected
6) What is Vls and how is it displayed?
Lowest selectable airspeed (lowest speed providing adequate margin to stall speed). Amber line on ASI.
7) What speed does VMAX represent and how is it displayed?
Lowest if Vmo, Mmo, Vle or Vfe.
Displayed by lower end of red and black strip on ASI
8) What is Green Dot speed?
Engine out clean speed (equates to best L/D speed)
9) What would be indicated if the altitude window changed from yellow to amber?
Aircraft has deviated from FCU selected altitude or FL by 250 feet.
10) When is altitude alerting and the C chord automatically inhibited in flight?
Altitude Alerting
Slats are out with gear down, in approach after glide slope capture and gear down and locked.
C Chord
When AP on and approaching a selected altitude or FL
11) What does it mean when the altitude digits change from green to amber on the PFD
On approach, for which a minimum has been entered into FMGS, if the aircraft goes below minimum
12) When is Radio Height displayed on the PFD?
Below 2500’ AGL.
13) What would a flashing amber ILS indicate on the bottom of the PFD?
When approach mode has been armed but LS pb has not been selected
14) Top of Descent and Continue Descent arrows are displayed in blue or white on the ND. What is the difference?
White if DES not armed. Blue if DES armed.
15) What color does each altitude constraint circle on the ND represent?
Magenta when ALT CSTR is predicted to be met. Amber when predicted to be missed, and white when not taken into account by FMGS & NAV mode armed
16) If mode range data fails, what should you expect to see on the ND?
?
Default selection is ROSE NAV and 80NM
