- Neisseria gonorrhea, aerobic G- diplococcus
- causes acute suppurative genital tract infection
- have pili that contain protease that digests IgA
- creates copious pus and submucosal abscesses
- may result in infertility if left untreated
- PID and Fitz-Hugh-Curtis Syndrome in women (OUCH)

- Haemophilus ducreyi, G- bacillus
- leading cause of genital ulcers in less developed regions
- hypothesized to facilitate spread of HIV
- enters through skin breaks
- tx: erythromycin

Granuloma Inguinale
A
- Calymmatobacterium granulomatis, G- bacillus
- tropical ulcerating disease
- macrophages contain many bacteria (Donovan bodies)
- may cause genital elephantitis
- Abx effective if treated early
