Socialization Process
Refers to the lifelong process of inheriting and disseminating norms, customs, values and ideologies, providing an individual with skills and habits that focus on gender role-related behaviour and/or human sexual behaviour.
All elements of culture are LEARNED, SHARED and TRANSMITTED
Sex Negative Socialization
It points to existence of a lot messages about probations and adverse consequences when engaging in sexual behaviour
Sexual Conduct
Reflection of what they choose to do or not to do.
Example: Abstinence
Experimental Learning
Something that comes into academic certification, experience traveling or doing volunteer work that could get credit for that.
This can occur without any particular effort being made or it can happen by design
Didactic Learning
Instruction that occurs when one person or several teach one or more others
Role models
- Offer examples of various kinds of patterned behaviour that may be relevant to the understanding of human sexuality and gender roles
- These can include friends, family or counsellors, individuals in mass media

- Some people looking to make a profit out of the ignorance and suffering of those in need
Naturalistic Societies
Those in which open communication about sexual matter is common and in which there is a “taken for granted” quality associated with the ways in which sex is treated.
Moralistic Societies
Those that stress strict adherence to rules about sexual involvements and practices and ones that treat sexual activity as something worthy of special attention
Pluralistic Societies
Those in which there is widespread acceptance of and tolerance for sexual diversity and differences in sexual choice and expression. Unique aspects of human sexual behaviour could be accepted and acknowledged
Sexual Revolution
Term that is used to describe some of the major transformations that have occurred in our society over the course of the last half century or so
A revolution
Suggests that there has been a major, “global” transformations of values, norms, and practices that has had a major impact upon large numbers of persons
Coleman (Double Standard)
Refers to the difference in rules and expectations applied to males and females whereby one type of behaviour might be accepted, tolerated, or approved of for males but not for females.
Is reflective of prejudicial thinking and feeling that emphasizes sex-negative aspects of socialization for females.
Sex for pleasure
Refers to involvement in sexual activities that is associated with a particular motivation
Casual Sex
Refers to sexual involvement that is not associated with a “serious” relationship and does not entail commitment on a mutual, long term basis
Values
Refer to what people want, what they hold dear, what they have as aims or objective, what they consider worthy

A person who has never had genital sex but who has engaged in one or more sexually satisfying acts with one or more other people:
