what is EEOC?
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other verbal or physical contact of a sexual nature
what are 2 types of sexual harassment?
1- Quid pro quo
2- hostile environment
what are considerations for a hostile environment?
frequency
severity
interference w/ work performance?
was harasser a superior?
physically threatening/humiliating?
what is sexual harassment?
does NOT have to show actual harm (including economic), just that behavior is inappropriate
EMPLOYERS responsible for preventing and eliminating
Can occur b/w persons of same gender
victim does not have to be person harassed; can be anyone affected by the offensive behavior

how should restraints be monitored - physical and chemical ?
at all times
caregivers will do an assessment of the restrained pt every 15 min (BP, HR, RR, restraints on correctly? position change needed?, food, water, medical care, bathroom?)
order can last up to 4 hours, then further eval
how should restraints be monitored- environmental ?
observed constantly
need for seclusion reviewed every 2 hours
review room requirements
APTA considers unethical any practice in which restraints are recommended or applied w/out evidence of the following:
appropriate physical exam/eval
consideration of alternative interventions
communication to the individual or responsible parties of any substantial risks
