DSM-5 definition of Sexual Dysfunction
A clinically significant disturbance in a person’ ability to respond sexually or to experience sexual pleasure.
Minimum duration of 6 months. Has to be experienced in almost all or all occasions of sexual activity (75-100%)
Severity of premature ejaculation (mild, moderate, severe)
Mild = 30-60 seconds Moderate = 15-30 seconds Severe = 15 seconds or less
What is the most common sexual dysfunction?
Sexual DESIRE disorder
What is the least common male sexual complaint?
Delayed ejaculation (average time is about 20 minutes)
Define Female Orgasmic Disorder
Marked delay in, or absence of orgasm. Orgasm is a learned (not automatic) response.
Prevalence is around 51%.
Define Psychogenic Erectile Dysfunction
Often sudden onset; preservation of morning erections and nocturnal erections; achieve erection with masturbation; usually younger patients
Define Organic Erectile Dysfunction
Gradual deterioration; decrease in morning erections and nocturnal erections; no erections with masturbation; no loss of libido
