Stages of Sexual Response Cycle
Desire: interest in sexual desire
Excitement: Fantasy or physical contact. (Erections or vaginal lubrication).
Plateua: Increased size of testicles, tightening of scrotal sack and secretion of seminal fluid.

Psych meds leading to sexual dysfunction
SSRI’s and Anti-psychotics
Others: anti-hypertensives anti-cholinergics.
Disorders of Desire
Hypoactive sexual desire disorder
Sexual Aversion Disorder
Disorders of Arousal
Male Erectile Disorder (inability to maintain erection).. Treat with 5-phosphodiesterase inhibitors.
Female Sexual Arousal Disorder ( Unable to maintain lubrication).
Disorder of Orgasm
Female Orgasmic Disorder (30%)
Male ORgasmic Disorder (Orgasm achieved with great difficulty).
Premature Ejaculation: Ejaculation earlier than desired time. Up to 35% of all male sexual desires. (SSRIs and TCAs)
Sexual Pain Disorder
Dyspareunia: Genital pain before, during and after intercourse
Vaginismus: Involuntary muscle contraction of the outer 1/3 of vagina during insertion of the penis.
Paraphilias
sexual disorders characterized by engagement in unusual sexual activities and or preoccupation with suxual urges or fantasies.
Only disorders if they are intense, recurrent and interfere with daily life.
Pedophilia (Children 13 or younger, perp must be 16 and 5 years older than child)
Frotteurism: rubbing up against and unwanting person
Voyeurism: Watching unsuspecting nude individuals.
Exhibitionism Sadism: hurt or humiliate another Masochism: hurt or humiliate yourself Necrophilia Telephone scatologia
Gender Identity Disorder (Transsexuality)
Feeling of being born the wrong sex.
Often associated with major depression, anxiety disorders and suicide.
