What is a homologous pair?

diploid organisms have pairs of chromosomes - one from mother and father - they have
the same genes but different alleles

expression of alleles located on the same sex chromosomes - depends on the
gender of the individual

What are sex chromosomes in females and males?
A
femakes = XX genotype males = XY genotype
X chromosome is bigger than Y
Y is missing many genes that are present on X

What is haemophilia?
A
it is a disease
female have two X chromosomes
female also have two alleles
for them to be a sufferer of haemophilia, they havr to be homozygous recessive
males only have one X chromosome - if they have the faulty allele, they will be a sufferer
