The shoulder Pharisees
These Pharisees were records other good deeds on their shoulders and perform them in such a way to be seen by men
The wait-a-little Pharisees
These Pharisees could always find a good excuse for putting off a good deed until tomorrow
The bruised or bleeding Pharisees
No Jewish rabbi was permitted to speak with a woman on the street, not even his own wife, mother, or sister. However, these particular Pharisees took this thought further. They would not even look at a woman on the street. To avoid seeing a woman, they would shut their eyes. Therefore, they were constantly bumping into walls and houses and bruising themselves. They wore their bruises as special badges of extra ordinary righteousness
The pestle-and-mortar or hump-backed Pharisees
These Pharisees walked bent over almost completely to demonstrate their complete humility
The ever-reckoning Pharisees
These Pharisees were constantly tallying up their good ideas; striking a balance-sheet a profit and loss with God
The timid or fearing Pharisees
These Pharisees lived in constant fear of the wrath of God. They were hunted by their religion rather than blessed by it
The God-fearing Pharisees
These Pharisees were genuine God-fearing Pharisees. They lived in faith and charity and look forward to the coming of the messiah
