What is nursing informatics?
Area of nursing practice dedicated to optimal use of technology to support professional practice e and optimal patient outcomes. Integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate info/knowledge in practice.
How can technology influence nursing practice?
Helps standardize nursing language, data of patients charts is available over Canada, has clinical support tools for decision making.
What is the CNIA?
Canadian nursing informatics. Wants positive impact on health outcomes by advancing info leadership. Wants every nurse to optimize informatics and digital health. Enhanced decision making through collecting, extracting, analyzing, and interpreting standardized data.
What is the EHR?
Electronic health record. Data very available but expensive. Has patient registers, provider registers, diagnostic images, lab results, drugs dispensed, and immunizations. Record of individuals health status, tests, and treatments.
What is CIHI?
Canadian institute of health information. National body that records, analyzes, and disseminates data on Canada health system.
What is canada health informacy?
National body with mandate to generate consensus on health info standards, drives national agenda on creating EHR.
