Why is ischaemic muscle pain felt?
A
Muscle is ischaemic, pH drops and this stimulates pain afferent in muscle. A neuropeptide, substance P, is released locally and increases the sensitivity of pain afferents in muscle.

What are the symptoms of cardiac Ischaemia?
A
- angina
- unstable angina
- myocardial infarction

What brings up angina and what resolves pain?
A
Exercise Stress Emotion Cold weather Meal
Resolves with rest and relieved by GTN spray, a vasodilator.

A
ST depression or T wave invasion but NO ST elevation
