What are serous membranes ?

A

Serous membranes are lubricating closed fibrous sac lined with a delicate smooth membrane. Its walls are separated by a film of viscous fluid.

  1. Pleura : surrounds the lungs
  2. Pericardium ; surrounds the heart
  3. Peritoneum : surrounds the abdominal viscera.
  4. Tunica - vaginalis : surrounds the testis.
  5. Burase : lies between muscles and bones to minimize frictions.
  6. Synovial membrane : lines the interior of the joints
  7. Synovial sheath : surrounds the tendons of the muscles.
