What are serous membranes ?
A
Serous membranes are lubricating closed fibrous sac lined with a delicate smooth membrane. Its walls are separated by a film of viscous fluid.
- Pleura : surrounds the lungs
- Pericardium ; surrounds the heart
- Peritoneum : surrounds the abdominal viscera.
- Tunica - vaginalis : surrounds the testis.
- Burase : lies between muscles and bones to minimize frictions.
- Synovial membrane : lines the interior of the joints
- Synovial sheath : surrounds the tendons of the muscles.
