What is cognitive load theory?
The long term memory consists of a range of schemas
Learning is about changing those schemas, through acquiring knowledge and making connections with different schemas
Before entering long-term memory and developing schemas, information must be processed by the working memory
What is cognitive overload?
When too much information is being processed by the working memory, which means that it cannot be processed into the long term memory
