Why do you use pencil in paper chromatography
A
Pencil is insoluble

How to do paper chromatography
A
Draw a line on the paper in pencil, then ad a spot of the substance you spare testing, the solvent will vary as to what the substance will dissolve in, place a lid on top to stop the solvent evaporating, the solvent then travels up the paper and take the substance with it, and the different things in the substance go up different heights, and the end result is a chromatogram
