What are the separation standards for different types of radar targets in Belfast airspace?

Answer 1

Up to 40nm from ARP:
* Belfast PSR available: 3nm
* Belfast SSR only: 5nm
* Crowhill SSR only: 5nm

Beyond 40nm within CAS to 60nm OR outside CAS up to 40nm from ARP:
* All systems (PSR, SSR, Crowhill): 5nm

What are the criteria for using 3nm reduced separation, and what are the types of separation?

Answer 2

Criteria for 3nm Reduced Separation:

1. Separation applies only to primary position indicators of identified aircraft.
2. Aircraft must be below FL195 and within 40nm of the ARP when outside the ATS route structure.
3. Wake Turbulence separations must be adhered to if they exceed radar separation.
