What are the roles and responsibilities of the positions in the radar room?
INT (Primary Position):
* Responsible for all flights within or cleared into EGAA’s Area of Responsibility.
FIN (Radar Director):
* Handles tasks delegated by INT, primarily sequencing aircraft onto final approach.
APC (Co-ordinator):
* Assists INT during busy periods.
* Monitors frequency 133.125 without transmitting.
* Handles co-ordination tasks, receives phone calls, and monitors radar for conflicts as needed.
What type of equipment does EGAA use for flight progress, and where can guidance on its usage be found?
EGAA uses Electronic Flight Progress Strips (EFPS). Guidance on “live” usage can be found further down in the documentation, as well as through provided links.

There are two radar displays in the radar room, located at the INT and FIN positions. They can be selected to display one of two radar feeds:
- Belfast Thales PSR/SSR
- Crowhill SSR

The two types of Radar Safety Net alerts are:
- Short Term Conflict Alert (STCA)
- Approach Funnel Deviation Alert (AFDA)

The Approach Path Monitor (APM) displays the descent profile of aircraft on final approach.
What are the two types of Landing Clearance Indicator System (LCIS) available?
The two types of Landing Clearance Indicator System (LCIS) are:
- Physical/Audible version
- Electronic/EFPS version
What information does the METCOM system provide?
The METCOM system provides:
- METAR
- IRVR (Instrument Runway Visual Range)
- Runway surface state information, among other data.
What is the purpose of the iPad available in the workplace?
The iPad is available for referring to documents and serves as an aide-memoire. It also contains updated NOTAMs provided by OSS.
