Q

How are metals separated from their oxides

A
  1. Metals are oxidised to make metal oxides
    —>oxidation
  2. The metal oxide is them reduce to the metal

Q

How are metals extracted from their ores using carbon

A

-by reduction using carbon
-the ore is reduces as oxygen is removed from it and carbon gains oxygen so is oxidised
-the position of the metal in the reactivity series determines why here it can be extracted using carbon
