what is sensory testing?
Sensory testing is a vital part of food product development as it helps manufacturers find out important information about food products
why is sensory testing important?
This helps to ensure the product will be successful because improvements can be made to the product based on consumer feedback / This makes sure the food products are all of a similar quality
why is sensory testing carried out?
Allows the manufacturer to find out what consumers like and dislike about a food product / Allows the manufacturer to check for consistency of food products
rules to follow when carrying out sensory testing?
Always check that everyone taking part is able to taste the product
Serve food samples in the same way e.g. same plate, portion size, temperature
why is it important to follow sensory testing rules?
Some people may have allergies or dietary conditions preventing them from carrying out the tasting
