Q

describe the pacinian corpuscle

A
  • pressure receptor
  • located in the skin; mainly fingers and feet
  • contain the end of a sensory neurone wrapped in layers of connective tissue called lamellae
  • membranes have stretch mediated sodium channels which only allow Na+ in when stretched when pressure is applied
  • causes lamellae to deform and press on sensory nerve ending
  • creates a generator potential
